Yeah, yeah.. I know. There's one brewing, I swear. It has action, drama, humor, sexy dames, and at least one psychotic cat. I'm on it. But not tonight.

I thought this was going to be a good time to write, but I can't think of anything. One gets so few solitary moments. Which is good, but, you know, "precious and few, are the moments...."

Watched a little HBO tonight, and I must admit, they're making some pretty interesting teevee, which is probably a very good reason to not ever have HBO. It's one thing to have a 24 stream of generally, and often spectacularly, crappy excuses for entertainment piped into your home, at least that becomes intolerable in about an hour. But to have decent, halfway compelling, especially when you're drunk, excuses for entertainment, the tolerance goes up, and before you know it, it's 3 am. It's not 3am now, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm still up then. Except my back hurts and we have no couch to lay on. All sitting, all the time.

This morning I wasn't sitting; we played about 2 hours of volleyball doubles on the sand court at Chelsea Piers with Luke and Jeanhee. It was a blast, really hard, good workout in the morning, and it was nice to be up early. I'm not saying I'm making it a habit or anything, nothing crazy, I'm just saying it was nice. But my back hurts.

Watched the end of Fight Club when we got home tonight. That movie's depictionof a terrifying and super-efficient terrorist organization is fascinating, not to mention all the psychological craziness. I don't know if it's in any way possible, given human nature and all of those uncontrollable wildcards, but if it were, it would be pretty amazing. Not amazing like good, but amazing just as in 'to amaze'.

Shit, I went in the other room to turn it down and got caught up in the opening credits for Charlie's Angels. Oh, the Fight Club thing. Liz and I got to talking about the possibility of such a revolution as in that movie. The thing they did at the end, they blow up several buildings but clear them completely of people first. The buildings are all credit card companies and the idea if to "erase the debt". "You erase the debt, and everyone goes back to zero" They very carefully create a certain sympathy for the idea. It's interesting to think of people going to such extreme and dramatic lengths to get their point across, but there point, ultimately being a pretty good point. They're not advocating death or murder or segregation, just the opposite. They're, in some bizarre way, doing the opposite. They're not trying to physically hurt anyone, they're just trying to yell really loud. It's mindblowing to think of such a thing really happening, what an effect that could have. Positive or negative, I have no idea, and I'm certainly not suggesting it would be a good idea to find out, but the possible ramifications are, you know, big. Then again, it could be smoothed over quite nicely, packaged up with a nice little bow, and harmlessly spread across the planet in the form of Happy Meal prizes, becoming such a thin whisp of the thing it was you wouldn't even recognize it. I've sort of lost track of what "it" was, but maybe somebody's with me.

Yeah, that's all I got. Oh, there's more, my new non-work related computer project, coming soon!, and volleyball volleyball volleyball, not to mention the tangled web of personal relationships swirling around and through the Oxygen corporation like some kind of crazy swirling galaxy thing. Another time.

Oh good golly, it's been over a week. Busy busy busy. Oh, and I still don't have my computer at home, so that doesn't help any. Now we have this flashy G4 hooked up, though, so I can use this. It's a Mac, and it's a dialup connection, but waddayagonnado...

Work, volleyball, unpacking (not very much), the fine art of exploratory home improvements. That's when you don't know what you're doing but you drill holes in the walls anyway. It's fun, I recommend it. That reminds me, we need to get renter's insurance. I sure hope nobody reading this blog thinks to rob us before we do.

Work-wise, my very first ever work created thingie went live last week and I'm ever so proud. I'm not really all that proud, but I'm pretending to be. I'm a little bit proud. I'm working on another one now, very exciting. Again, the content isn't much, but it's good to have something to do. I'm still learning some stuff about html and so on, so I'm relatively engaged. I feel it may wear off one day.

Great time in Jersey this weekend with the old gang. I wonder for how much of my life I'll have an 'old gang'. I'm hoping most or all of it.

I'm very anxious to get the apartment finished up so we can relax here. It's nice how it is, but it's ver undone. We've moved a giant pile of stuff ffrom one room to another a few times, and we're running out of options. Once the shelves are up, we'll be rolling. Shelves are the key. Screw shelves.

I have a good excuse this time. I haven’t sat in front of a computer for 4 days!! I tell ya, sometimes it seems harder than a month without beer.

Speaking of a month without beer, it’s over. What have I learned? I learned a couple of things. First and foremost I learned that I really like beer. I also accomplished my goal of getting a good perspective on alcohol and how important it is to my lifestyle. It’s around me all the time, but I didn’t miss it all that much or feel very strongly that I wanted some. So that’s good. But I missed it as a relaxer, a nice thing after a long day (oh my aching back), and a social lubricant. My social life was dry and scratchy, causing occasional chafing, and started to crack and peel by the end. Other lubricants just didn’t do the trick. Once, at a party, I was in a particularly uninteresting conversation and I thought, “This could sure use some lube.” but I couldn’t drink, so I spit on the guy. It definitely made the situation more interesting, but I still don’t think it’s the way to go.

And so, a toast, in the words of a great modern philosopher, “To alcohol: The cause of, and solution to, all of life’s problems.”

In other news, we spent 16 hours moving an unimaginable amount of crap (some valuable items too) on Thursday, and now it’s done. We’re into Day 4 of unpacking and it’s coming along pretty well. It’s lucky we have that extra room. We may have to annex the neighbors’.
